$5 Sampler! Dates: Second through twelfth sessions: The Rules, etc: Our new block of the month program, a $5 sampler using Marti Michell's Hidden Stars quilt pattern! You can get kits that include fabric and patterns to make twelve sampler blocks for only $5 (that's $5 for all 12, NOT $5 each) if you follow the rules! Here's how the program will work: 1. When you sign up for the program, you will pay your $5 and get one "get out of jail free" card. You can use that card later to get a pass when you break any of the rules. You will only get one card; no exceptions. 2. You must come to one of the sessions each month;
you can come on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. The Saturday session will
focus more on tips for beginners. When you sign up, please sign up for
the day that you will most likely attend. 3. You must arrive for the session on time, by 9AM on Friday or Saturday or 11AM on Sunday. If you are late, you may use your get out of jail free card. 4. You must stay for the entire session, about 15-20 minutes. We will demonstrate tips and tricks for sewing the blocks as well as highlight new products in the shop. After the session, you are free to shop (even though the shop doesn't technically open until 10 (12 on Sunday). 5. You must sew last month's block and bring it to show. If you don't sew it or forget to bring it, you may use your get out of jail free card. 6. If you do not sew last month's block and/or you
are late, you may purchase this month's block for $5. Then next month,
as long as you sew the block and arrive on time, you are back to getting
your blocks for free. 7. These patterns recommend the use of the Marti Michell template sets A and C (and of course WE highly recommend them as well), but they are not required. The pattern pieces are included on the printed instructions. 8. Finishing kits will be available throughout the program. Finishing instructions will also be available without the purchase of a kit. Additional blocks may be purchased at any time for $5.

This quilt is done in the batik colorway.
I know this looks a little funny - I had to hang the quilt sideways and then rotate the photo. The border really is one width, it's just hitting the ironing board and one of the junction boxes on the back wall!
Close-up of a block. Please note that the black sashing with the blue and green stars is NOT part of the block kit; the block kit includes the fabric and instructions for the 12" blocks that are inside the sashing. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ For both sets of blocks, I tried to choose color schemes that would allow for many different options for setting blocks and sashing and borders, rather than locking into just one group of fabrics. The batik quilt that I made shows just one set of fabric selections, but there are many more options for finishing! For the second colorway, I sewed two sample blocks, and here they are pictured with two of the fabrics I used for inspiration as well as a few pieces of sashing. These are just *suggestions* - when you get going on your sets of blocks, youll have all year to be watching for the perfect fabrics to finish *your* quilt and make it your own!
