Hand Applique for Beginners

Dates:
- Thursdays, June 26, July 10 & 24, 6:15-7:45
- Thursdays, September 17, 24, & October 1, 6:15-7:45

Description: Hummingbird Garden by Mary Sorensen is a perfect pattern to learn applique from the ground up! We will make bias stems, sharp points, and perfect circles while completing this sweet wall hanging.

Instructor: Joyce Hartley

Class fee: $30

Kit fee: none, pattern required

Level: Beginner

Supply List:
- Hummingbird Garden pattern by Mary Sorensen
- Fabrics as indicated on the back of pattern - prewash or not, it's your choice!
- Threads to match fabrics (Mettler Fine Embroidery or Silk Finish)
- Piece of quilter's vinyl 18" square
- Ultra fine point sharpie
- Freezer paper
- Plastic or vinyl bag to hold all your pieces
- Marking pencils - silver or white or yellow fabric marking pencil, something non-permanent that will show on your fabric
- Pencil sharpener
- Applique (or millners) needles - John James size 11 sharps are a good choice for beginners
- Small, thin, sharp applique pins - Collins applique/sequin pins or Clover applique pins
- Thimble if you use one
- Sharp to the point small scissors
- Paper scissors
- Glasses (if you need them)
- Bias bars (first class)
- Dime (yes, a 10 cent piece) - or a set of Perfect Circles (second or third class)
- Embroidery floss and needles for embroidered accents (needed to finish, not until last class)
