New Fabric Postcard Contest!

Tuesday, February 21st, 2006 by Joyce

We’re having another Fabric Postcard contest, this time in honor of Phoebe’s 18th birthday! It’s a little bit different this time, so please read the rules carefully:

1. You must use at least one thing you bought in our store in the postcard. It can be fabric, thread, timtex, whatever. Obviously, we are simply going to have to use the honor system for this rule.
2. Your postcard should be close to 4” x 6”. Oh, say, within 20% either way.
3. There is a theme. It is Phoebe’s 18th birthday. Please feel free to “interpret” the “theme” however you like. ;-)
4. Phoebe will get to keep all the cards; there is no swap component to this contest.
5. Please don’t put your name on the front of the postcard. But don’t forget to put it on the back, so we know it’s yours!
6. Your postcard must be mailed to the shop by April 1 (Quilting Adventures, 7121 Staples Mill Road, Richmond, VA 23228). It can’t be mailed in anything (like an envelope); it should be hand cancelled.
7. Postcards will be on display in the shop until May 1.
8. Anyone who comes into the shop on April 3-7 will get one vote towards his/her favorite. Phoebe will get 10 votes, since it’s her birthday, and other staff members will get one vote for each day they work during that week.
9. Employees of QA may not enter the contest, but teachers may.
10. The maker of the postcard with the most votes will win a $25 gift certificate to Quilting Adventures!

Steve B’s Log Cabin

Steve made this quilt for his stepdaughter – what a lucky girl! Phoebe helped him find the perfect fabric to do his gradation stripes, and it really came out great!

Baby Pictures

Someone is going to write a real blog entry within the next few days, I promise. We’ve got the pictures all ready, we just have to get the chance to do it.
Someone left me a comment about Alyssa looking like a little china doll and that the grandparents were too young. Well, I can’t do anything about the grandparents, but I can show you a new picture that is cute beyond belief, but doesn’t quite scream china doll to me.

Fat Quarter Frenzy Sale

Wednesday, February 1st, 2006 by Joyce

February 18 & 19 – Fat quarters 10 for $15 (must be purchased in multiples of 10).

You get to pick out your own, of course, but you must buy at least 10. And these are fat quarters from fabrics that we have in the shop now (and/or are getting between now and then); these are not a “special group” of fat quarters that we are ordering only for this sale. The sale applies to pre-cut fat quarters only. If you want to have any cut-to-order, or if you want fewer than 10, they will be full price. Pre-made bundles will be sold for the normal price. In some cases, you’ll be able to create your own “bundle” of the same fabrics out of the 10/$15 fat quarters, but you’re on your own there. :-)
