Rosemary gets Honorable Mention!

Friday, July 28th, 2006 by Joyce

One of my favorite customers (I have a lot of them!) is a woman I used to work with in my Former Life. I feel like I lured her into quilting and won her over, and in no time at all, she’s doing awesome work. So I was really thrilled to get this note from her the other day:

“Remember the fabric you helped me pick out the for airplane mini-quilt? The contest winners have finally been announced and I got an Honorable Mention. It will be displayed with the others at the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) Museum in Oshkosh, WI until the end of the year.”
Here’s the link – http://www.airventure.org/2006/events/quilt_contest.html

You have to scroll down a little to see Rosemary’s quilts – and there’s two Rosemarys who are winners, but Rosemary Tyson is *our* Rosemary.

Art Quilt Study Group – Red

Tuesday, July 25th, 2006 by Joyce

Deanna was kind enough to send me a picture from last week’s Art Quilt Study Group meeting. The theme was “Red.” Here’s Deanna’s comments/descriptions:

Top Row: quilt inspired by John Henry by new person to group Mary
Middle Row: Red Shoe by Elizbeth, Kari’s quilt is next and she did not use red but instead tore squares of yellow and fushia and tacked them together, Maren is next with the heat of the sun and of the flames.
Bottom Row: Carol’s quilt is passion for red, and mine is red work.
Awesome work – I’m so envious! :-)

We’ve also gotten some fabrics from the Ice line by Patricia Campbell. They don’t photgraph very well, but I tried.

They have glitter on them, and they really do look like frost leaves and pine needles!

We also got some new yarn dyes in from Textile Creations. These are great for making chenille scarves!
