Valentine’s Postcard/Single Heart Contest
Friday, December 29th, 2006 by JoyceEvery year, hundreds of teenagers turn old enough to become “adults.†Many of these people have spent years in foster care. When they turn 18, they are sent out into the world alone, to start school or a job. The Orphan Foundation of America sends out care packages three times a year to many of these people to let them know they are cared about. We would like to contribute by including some fabric postcards and single hearts (see class with Pat Moore).
1. You may make as many fabric postcards or single hearts as you like. They must be 4†x 6†in either a horizontal or vertical orientation. The single hearts may be any size.
2. Each postcard should include at least one recognizable piece of material bought at Quilting Adventures.
3. They should be hand delivered to the shop or mailed in an envelope. Please write a message of encouragement to these young people on the back.
4. They must be in the shop by January 26, no exceptions.
5. Voting will take place on January 27 and 28. One vote per person, per day.
6. Viewer’s choice will be announced on January 29 and one prize will be awarded for the postcards and another for the single hearts. Each will win a $25 gift card to Quilting Adventures.
7. Employees and teachers are not eligible to win the viewer’s choice prize, but are encouraged to contribute cards anyway.
8. The Orphan Foundation of America is including other things in their care packages. If you are interested in contributing something else, please contact us and we can let you know what they need.
