New Year’s Day – another change to the schedule!

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008 by Joyce

Always the queen of the last minute, that’s me!  :-)   I’ve decided to add another session of the Painted Silk Scarf class on Thursday, in the time slot of 2-3 (which is when the Couched Key Chain class was, but we’re canceling that one).  We’ll be calling all you folks on the waiting list to see if we can move you into the afternoon session, but there will still be more space – so call us if you want in!

Follow this link to a list of the day’s festivities!

Snap Sack!

Saturday, December 27th, 2008 by Joyce

We’ve got these great new kits in – they’re called Snap Sacks.  Everything you need to make a small quilt (except the batting and thread) is included in this cute little sack.  The first one is ready for you to come pick one up and make it in an afternoon – they’re really fun!  Here’s the Starflake quilt:

Our year end inventory clearance sale continues through Wednesday, with deeper discounts every day!  Hope to see you soon!

Birthday Show & Tell!

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008 by Joyce

I guess there’s no denying it – today is my birthday, and yes, it’s a big one.  So my staff – with MaryT as the ringleader and head seamstress – got together to make me a birthday cake quilt.  Everyone made or signed a block, and MaryT did the big cake in the middle.  It is so amazingly wonderful!  I take back all the mean things I said about my staff.  <giggle>

Here’s a photo, but you can see it in person in the shop – currently it’s on the design wall in the classroom where all the clearance stuff is.  And if you come see it in person, you can read all the messages and find out exactly *which* birthday it is!  ;-)

Brown Bear Drawing

Monday, December 22nd, 2008 by Joyce

Good morning all!  I just used a random number generator from random.org to pick a number between 1 and 20 (that’s how many comments we got on our Brown Bear Bag post).  The winner is #7, Rae P!  Congratulation, Rae!

For those of you who tried but didn’t win, thanks for commenting – and remember, we’ll let you know as soon as the Brown Bear fabric arrives at QA!

Flower Fairies are HERE!

Thursday, December 18th, 2008 by Joyce

Woohoo!  These are the BEST thing to brighten up a gloomy “winter” day in Richmond – Michael Miller’s new Flower Fairies fabric has arrived!  These photos don’t do them justice, but you can see them on Michael Miller’s website, here.  We had a list of people who have been waiting for these fabrics and I think we’ve called them all – I have a feeling this fabric is going to go FAST!  The printing on them is just exquisite.  :-)

Customer Show & Tell

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008 by Joyce

Jennifer M sent us a photo of curtains she made from our fabric.  The bookcases around her curtains are her “husband’s handy work. He’s never taken a carpentry class in his life and LOOK what he can do! He’s so talented!!!! ”

She goes on to say, “I am proud of these. No pattern or directions, anything! And to think, it all started 7 months ago with a smartbag and two hours of YOUR time. I <3 Sewing!”

We’re proud of you, too, Jennifer – great job!

Trunk Show Preview

Monday, December 15th, 2008 by Joyce

We have a couple of special exhibits that we planned for New Year’s Day, but we couldn’t wait to get this one unpacked and on display.  It’s from our friends at Woolylady; Lisa and Gail create the most beautiful designs using their own hand dyed wool (which we have LOTS of) in contemporary colors.  I love this stuff!  I took a few pieces of wool home and am working on a pillow of my own design, wool with blanket stitch (by hand – it is such a delight to work with these wonderful fabrics by hand).  Anyway, here’s a preview of the trunk show, but come to the shop and check it out!  We have kits of many of these pillows and they’re already selling fast – I had to reorder already.  If there’s one you want that we don’t have, just ask us to hold one for you when our reorders come in.  :-)

New Year’s Day Update

Thursday, December 11th, 2008 by Joyce

We got the rest of the samples in for our New Year’s Day special classes this week – they’re just great!

Here’s the Elegant Yo Yo Embellished Scarf that Monica made:

Her Painted Silk Scarf is just incredible, too:

Susan’s Wool Bead Pincushions have to be the most adorable pincushions ever!

And her Child’s Sweatshirt Embellished with Rick Rack is just delightful! Here’s a detail of some of what you’ll learn in class:

Now, here’s the really important thing:  We have one NYD class that’s already full, and one that has no one signed up for it.  If you’ve been putting off signing up, please don’t wait any longer!  I’m going to review the signups after this weekend and possibly adjust the schedule accordingly.  If you wait, it’s possible that your class might get changed to a different class!  And I’m not telling you which one is full, so we can start a waiting list for that one in case we do add another session.  :-)   So follow this link for the full schedule of the days festivities, and call or click today to sign up!

Amy Butler’s Midwest Modern 2!

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008 by Joyce

This collection arrived today – it’s such a nice breath of fresh air on a gloomy day!  These go perfectly with the Midwest Modern pieces that we already have in the shop:

As always, these are so much prettier in person – come check them out!  :-)

Is this your show and tell? –{later} mystery solved!

Monday, December 8th, 2008 by Joyce

{Later} Okay, so, as Jennifer pointed out, Phoebe did already post this bag, and it’s Sherry’s, and I was there that day (and may have even taken the photos!).  My brain is often on overload, and my only defense is that when Phoebe downloaded the photos from the camera, she left two on there (so it’s her fault!).  ;-)

Thanks, Jennifer, for setting me straight!

{original post below}

My staff often takes pictures of customer show and tell when I’m not here – which is wonderful! – but sometimes I don’t always know whose work is in the pictures!  (Okay, it’s possible that I took the picture myself, too, and just don’t remember whose it is.)  Here’s a photo of a great charm party tote, but I’ve no clue who made it.  Is it yours?  :-)
