Thankgsiving fun!

Friday, November 27th, 2009 by Joyce

Phoebe and I spent about five hours at the new space yesterday afternoon, working on the floor plan.  No, it’s not done.  But the floor is done, and so I wanted to share this awful picture of me (because I know it’s a good picture of the space and you’ll be looking at that, not me), where you can see the WHOLE floor (almost):

Remember all the specials we’ve got going on this weekend!  Hope to see you soon!

Thanksgiving Hours and Sale

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009 by Joyce

We’ve been getting calls all morning about our hours this weekend and “what’s going on.”  So, for those of you who don’t get our email newsletter:

HOURS – Regular hours all weekend except Thursday.  So, that means today (Wednesday) 10-8; closed Thursday; Friday 10-8; Saturday 10-6; Sunday 12-5.

SALES – Here’s a cut-and-paste from the newsletter:

There are several different components to our Thanksgiving sale this week!

QA BUCKS:
When you shop anytime between Wednesday, November 25, and Sunday, November 29, (except Thursday, when we’re closed), you will earn QA bucks that can be used like cash between December 7 and 12!  For every $10 you spend (does not include sale merchandise, class fees, gift cards, or tax), you will earn $2 QA money.  Anytime between December 7 and 12, you can use your QA bucks to buy anything EXCEPT gift cards or class fees or special order items.  There is no minimum purchase (although we won’t give you change on any unspent QA bucks), and you are free to take advantage of our last minute pre-moving clearance items.  You may not use your QA bucks in combination with any other coupons.

HOLIDAY FABRIC:
On sale, 20% off, minimum 1/2 yard cut (not our usual 1 yard on sale fabrics).  Christmas tree skirt panels are on sale, too.  This sale is already in effect (we announced it on the blog last week):

FINISH THE BOLT SALE:
What luck!  The 27th and 28th are this Friday and Saturday.  Finish ANY bolt of fabric in the store and get 25% off what’s on the bolt.  You won’t earn QA bucks on your finish the bolt purchases, but, hey!  It’s 25% off!  :-)

MOVING CLEARANCE:
There’s lots of stuff that I’d rather sell than have to pack, so we’re aggressively moving things to clearance and increasing the percents off on many items.  There are lots of things there that I’m practically paying you to take off my hands, so be sure to check it out!

Hope to see you this weekend!

Class Giveaway!

Saturday, November 21st, 2009 by Joyce

It’s time for another blog giveaway.  :-)   We have an AWESOME class coming up next Saturday (one that I so desperately wish I could take myself, but my mean boss is making me work!) – Catherine Etter will teach you MANY techniques for jazzing up the Flower Fairy panels!  Silk ribbon, beading, embroidery, SO much more – here’s a photo of the Fall Fairy sample (all done) and the Christmas Fairy that Catherine just brought us today, a work in progress that she’ll be using as her demo piece in next Saturday’s class:

fairyclassgiveaway

I am giving away ONE seat in Catherine’s class, by random drawing, to someone who leaves a comment on this post before Wednesday, November 25, 9AM EST.  The class is Saturday, November 28, 1-4PM.  So, leave your comment and maybe you’ll be the lucky one!  Just one comment per person, please.  :-)

Friday, November 20th, 2009 by Kristal

We have a LOT of items in our lost and found bin!  As you know, we’re moving soon and we’d like to not pack these things with us.  So here are some pictures, descriptions, lists, etc.  to see if it sparks a memory in anybody’s memory!  If you think something is yours, please just come visit us in person and we’ll have the items at the front register (or if you can’t get here before the move, call us and we’ll put your name on them).  :-)   Otherwise, these things won’t be moving to the new store.

New Space Preview

Friday, November 20th, 2009 by Joyce

Here are some photos taken Thursday morning at the new space – the painting is done and they were just starting to work on the floor.  Our “coming soon” sign in the window:

Just inside the front door, looking to the back:

About one quarter of the way into the store, turned around and looking towards the front (my hubby is re-taping the sign to the window):

And from the same place towards the back:

There’s still a lot of work to be done, and of course, I’m a total stress puppy over it all.  It’s only 3 1/2 weeks until we start moving stuff (not that anyone’s counting) and a lot has to happen in that time!  But it will come together, and it will be awesome when it’s done!  :-)

Holiday Fabric – 20% off!

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009 by Joyce

As a special reward to all you loyal blog readers, I’m announcing it here first (and on Facebook second) – Holiday fabric is now on sale, 20% off.  Cut off the bolt only, 1/2 yard minimum cut.  With the Fat Quarter Frenzy right around the corner, I’m going to leave holiday fat quarters at full price.  But all the stuff off the bolt is 20% off – even the flannel, even the new group that just came in last week.  :-)

Hope to see you soon!

Customer Show & Tell

Monday, November 16th, 2009 by Kristal

We have lots of Show and Tell to share with you today!  We love to see everyone’s hard work – it’s very inspiring.

Linda P. said we could take a picture of this enormous quilt only if we would fold it back up to get it in Deb Jacob’s long-arm quilting bag. We always want to see customer work, so we agreed! Here is a really big king-size quilt measuring 122″ square! You can only see less than one quarter of it here!

LindaPollock

Jody A. used the “Bot Camp” aliens and ray gun fabric to make a bag for toting around all the supplies her two little boys need.  There are elastic pockets on the side for carrying water bottles.  Look at her amazing quilting too!

Carmen T. showed us a beautiful quilt she made – Bowties from Ties!  This is a wonderful memory quilt and definitely clever.

Carol P. brought in her EcoTote she sewed up as a gift for a friend.  This one’s nice and sturdy for lots of groceries.

Heather showed us four – yes 4! – skirts that she sewed up recently.  Now that’s productive!

Mary S. came in to show us her Stashbuster Quilt that Joyce taught.  She even used her stash to make a pieced backing  – good job Mary!

Virginia L.  came in recently to find borders for this beautiful goldfinch paper-pieced wall hanging.  I don’t remember how many hundreds of pieces she said were in this piece.  Virginia also showed us her fun paper-pieced Rooster and Sunrise quilt.

Ron L.  showed us his stunning Playbill quilt – very cool.  I wonder if he’s seen all of these shows?

Mary loved our Maisy fabric and whipped up these fun SmartBags for her girls.

Last but certainly not least I wanted to share pictures from one of Cheryl’s beginning classes (Four Patch Lightning).  We love watching the beginners make their first quilts – good job ladies!

Thanks again for sharing!

Upcoming Events and Classes!

Thursday, November 12th, 2009 by Kristal

Hello again!  We still have a lot of classes going on this month that I wanted to tell you about.  But first I also wanted to tell you about this week’s demo – Clearly Perfect Angles!  This is a great tool that’s super easy to use to make perfect 45 degree pieces with NO marking!  Come learn about it tonight (Thursday) at 5:30 or Saturday at 11 and 2!

ClearlyPerfectAngles

We have lots of fun classes coming up.  On Saturday Joyce is teaching two classes – Chubby Chicks Hand Applique (10-12) and Hand Quilting for Beginners (2-5).  The Hand Applique class doesn’t require very many materials and we have a kit for the Hand Quilting class to make it stress free for you!  There are only a couple spots left so give us a call if you’re interested!  The picture below is the “chubby chick” – so cute!

Also on Saturday (10-5) Kathleen is teaching her Wrapped Doll class – there’s only ONE spot left!

On Sunday, Monica is teaching how to make a great Messenger Bag.  You can put lots of pockets in this one and would make a great holiday gift for a student!  This one also only has a couple of spots so check it out…

Tuesday the 17th is “Young Peoples Sewing Group“.  Come Sit-n-Stitch with 20-35ish (we’re flexible!) folks from 6-8.

Also, on Tuesdays and Fridays (10 am til about 2 pm) we have “Mom’s Time Out” which is also a great Sit-n-Stitch.

And don’t forget about our “Twelve Weeks of Christmas Ornament Series“.  We have lots of sessions of this to fit your schedule.  It’s only $12 and everything is included!  It won’t be long before we all need ornaments to decorate our Christmas trees!

We hope to see you soon!
