Beginning Quilt Making

Learn all the basic steps to make your first quilt! In this class you will learn rotary cutting, 1/4" seams, piecing, borders, basting, straight-line quilting, and binding. Taught by Phoebe Guider. Visible Mending; Mend it March!
- Mar 14, 2026 12:30 pm
This four-hour visible mending class introduces the art of repairing clothing in a way that celebrates creativity, care, and sustainability. Participants will learn how to mend worn or damaged garments using decorative hand-stitching techniques that turn repairs into intentional design features. Through guided demonstrations and plenty of hands-on practice, we’ll explore techniques such as Sashiko, patching, and basic embroidery, with an emphasis on color, texture, and personal expression.

Improv Quilting Workshop with Jackie Tu
- Mar 21, 2026 10:00 am
Jackie Tu, a local quilt artist, will teach a 2 day workshop that focuses on a confident improv quilting practice through shape, color and process. Class is in collaboration with the Central Virginia Modern Quilt Guild, and will be held at The Bon Air United Methodist Church, lunch provided.
