Improve your piecing skills and adding borders. Learn how to chain piece. At the end you will have a finished top that measures 44' X 62" to take home. You can then use the skill you learned earlier to finish the quilt yourself or send it to a longarm quilter.

This workshop is for the XStitchers that want to know the tips and tricks of doing the Block of the Month Cross Stitch patterns for 2019's Mystery. We will go over the standard stitches, how to start, how to finish, how to bead, and how to take shortcuts with the patterns for faster stitching if needed. It is free for those who sign up for the BOM Cross Stitch Mystery.

Paper piecing is an easy and methodical technique that results in complex blocks! Cartwheels from Freshly Pieced Patterns is a fun pattern and all you need to know is how to sew on a line. No points to match and your choice of sizes to sew. This class will start with the basics of paper piecing quilt blocks. You will just be sewing a few blocks in class but can continue at home for a larger size quilt if you choose. A class kit will include the pattern and a few blocks printed on foundation paper.

Learn all the basic steps to make your first quilt! In this class you will learn rotary cutting, 1/4" seams, piecing, borders, basting, straight-line quilting, and binding. You will have a beautiful Checkerboard pattern quilt at the end of the class!

The workshop focuses on domestic machine set up with Westalee Design ruler foot and their unique templates. We learn how to use and stitch designs with 12in Arc template & Sampler Set 1. The class will be help at the Henrico County Belmont Recreation Center on Hillard Rd. We will be in the Sunroom.

Want to feel like an Artist? Want to get a project done quickly? Let us introduce you to Cheryl Lynch's technique for a small wall hanging that looks just like mosaic tile work. You'll never look at an art piece or applique quilt again without wondering how it would look 'tiled'. You won't even need your sewing machine until your Art has been completed!! Select from 4 available kits: Key West Sunrise, Tiny Town, Light House, or Flowers. We'll teach you how to use the Mini Mosaic Cutting Ruler --100s of 3/8 inch 'tiles' cut in a flash! Then you will easily apply the tiles to a sticky back adhesive. Finishing techniques will be shared as well.

Have you been saving T-shirts from your children's activities or from favorite vacation spots? Turn them into a unique quilt that you'll design yourself. It's quick to make and a great gift. (Prerequisite: You must have rotary cutting and piecing skills. This is not a beginner quilting/sewing class. Very little sewing will be done in class.)

Stack your fabric, slice it up, shuffle some of the pieces, and end up with complicated looking blocks. Using Karla Alexander's The Tree Farm pattern, learn this simple technique that results in very different looking trees. Squaring the blocks at the end is the most difficult part of the process.

It's Tuffet time!!! Make your own upholstered low seat or stool. You can make an 18" tuffet with your own choice of fabric. We will have the pattern and hardware kit for you to purchase. Be sure to read the supply list carefully. You may stay and sew for the rest of the day after the first class. Class fee $70.00; Kit fee $175.00 (Kit must be purchased through QA, NO outside kits); 10% off fabric if purchased at QA
