Machine Quilting with a Walking Foot

Explore the basics of machine quilting with your walking foot to create straight lines and gentle curves, stitching samplers using a walking foot. Layering, pinning, batting, thread choices and marking tools will also be covered. With a little practice you'll be ready to complete those unfinished quilt tops!
*Note: If a walking foot did not come with your machine, you will need to purchase one separately.
Supplies needed:
*Batting will be supplied by Quilting Adventures
- Sewing machine with manual
- Walking Foot and quilting guide bar. If a walking foot did not come with your machine, please check with your local dealer or sewing machine company online. The guide bar is an attachment that slides in and out of the back of the walking foot.
- (5)12" squares of solid cotton fabric (these will be the tops of the quilt sandwich)
- (5) 14” squares of solid cotton fabric (these will be the backs)
- Batting squares will be supplied in class.
- Hand sewing needle.
- Size 1 safety pins (50-100 pins)
- Quilt ruler at least 18” long
- Marking pens/pencils/utensils--bring everything you have and we'll discuss in class--some are safer than others
- Contrasting cotton thread -- 50 wt
- 75/11 machine quilting needles
- Painter's tape
- General sewing supplies: seam ripper, scissors, etc.
- Seam gauge, a small ruler and/or Ideal Seam Gauge (optional)
- Kwik Klip (optional)

Class Policies:
If your class starts at the same time that we open, we will let you into the shop ten minutes before class time.
In consideration of other students and employees with allergies, please limit your use of scented personal products when attending one of our classes.
If your class calls for a book or pattern, each student needs their own copy of that book or pattern. Under federal copyright law, books and patterns may not be shared.
If your class requires a sewing machine, please be sure that you are familiar with its operation, it is in good working order, has been serviced recently, and bring your manual along to class just in case!
We do not allow children under the age of 16 in our classes without the consent of the teacher and the shop owner.
Only the person who is enrolled and paid for the class may be in the classroom during class time. Out of consideration for the teacher and the other students, please do not bring children, guests, or friends to class with you. No pets allowed.
Cancellation policy: If the class minimum is not met within seven days prior to the class, it may be cancelled and you will be notified and will receive a full refund. Please keep this possibility in mind when you purchase supplies for your class. No refunds of class fees will be given if student cancels within the one week prior to class.
