Beginning to Sew II; Hot Pads and Bowl Cozies

Just starting to sew and ready for your next project? This class is for you! In this class, you will continue working on sewing consistent seam allowances, plus working with batting to make a bowl cozy and a hot pad. Bowl cozies are a bowl shaped hot pad for bowls that can be used in the microwave. Hotpads can be made microwave safe or heat reflective.
Class supplies:
Only 100% cotton fabric, thread and batting can be used
No polyester fabric, thread or batting can be used-they will cause a fire!
Batting options will be discussed in the class and can be purchased then.
Fabric: ⅓ yard of fabric or two fat quarters (coordinating colors/patterns)
Cotton thread, 40 or 50 weight. It’s recommended you use a thread color coordinating with your fabric.
Sewing machine in good working condition; must be able to thread your machine
Sewing machine manual
Sewing machine needles (Microtex, Universal or Quilting) size 80/12
Sewing supplies: Scissors, rotary cutter, seam ripper, thread, pins
Sewing gauge and a acrylic quilting ruler, such as 2 ½”x12 ½” or 6”x24”
Fabric marking device, such as a chalk pencil, fabric pencil, FriXion pen, or Clover Chaco Liner Pen Style
