T-Shirt Quilt Class

 Class Description

T-shirt quilts make GREAT gifts whether for graduations, birthdays, or Christmas. They can also be an enormous comfort for those wishing to remember loved ones who’ve passed on. In this class, we will learn about quilting these wonderful quilts filled with memories.

Note: This is not a beginner friendly class. We recommend students have significant sewing experience (3-5 quilts under your belt or even clothing).

What you’ll learn:

  •         Cutting t-shirts and preparing them for sewing into a quilt
  •         Sewing t-shirt quilt tops without stabilizer (!)
  •         Assembling the t-shirt quilt
  •         We will discuss finishing the quilt such as tying off or stitch in the ditch, but we will NOT be finishing in class.

What you’ll need:

  •         Patience: learning this new skill CAN be frustrating
  •         9 old shirts that you are NOT attached to! Do NOT use shirts that are particularly meaningful until you have confidently built your skills! I recommend hitting a thrift store for some random shirts to practice on.
  •         ¾ yard of fabric for sashing: a neutral or blender works best
  •         A 15” x 15” ruler
  •         3” x 24” ruler
  •         Rotary cutter and medium/large mat
  •         Sewing machine with thread, needles, etc.
  •         Seam ripper and stiletto

All supplies (except machines, feet, etc.) are available at Quilting Adventures. We are happy to help you select the appropriate fabrics and supplies for your class and count on your support for this small, locally owned business in order to bring you high quality merchandise and excellent class instruction. As a student, you will receive a 10% discount on all supplies for the class in which you are enrolled.

If your class requires a sewing machine, please be sure that you are familiar with its operation, it is in good working order, has been serviced recently, and bring your manual along to class just in case!

We do not allow children under the age of 18 in our classes without the consent of the teacher and the shop owner.

Only the person who is enrolled and paid for the class may be in the classroom during class time. Out of consideration for the teacher and the other students, please do not bring children, guests, or friends to class with you. No pets allowed.
