Curved Piecing - Glare

In this class we will cover the basics of curved piecing as we make the Glare quilt by Latifah Saafir Studios. If you've ever been intimidated by curves, this is the class for you! 

Supplies needed:

-”Glare” pattern by Latifah Saafir Studios

-Freezer paper to trace templates

-45mm or smaller rotary cutter with a fresh blade

-Sewing machine in good working order

-Sharps (Microtex) needles size 80/12

-Good quality piecing thread

-Basic sewing supplies: Seam ripper, scissors, pins, etc.

-Glare and More template by Latifah Saafir Studios (recommended)

-Rotating cutting mat (optional)

Materials:

-Refer to pattern for fabric requirements 

-Double size batting

-4 1/2 yards of backing fabric, or 2 1/4 yards of 108” wide back

-5/8 yard of binding fabric

Prior to Class:

Please cut all pieces prior to class, and sew wedge pieces into groups of 6. We will trim the wedge sections using the Glare and More ruler in class. I recommend carefully tracing templates for large circles and background pieces onto freezer paper, then ironing freezer paper shiny side down onto your fabric with a hot, dry iron. This will give you a stable and accurate cutting guide. You can then carefully peel the freezer paper template from your fabric and reuse it until all pieces are cut. 

When sewing wedge pieces together, use a slightly shorter stitch length to avoid seams pulling apart once the units are trimmed.

Class Policies:

If your class starts at the same time that we open, we will let you into the shop ten minutes before class time.

In consideration of other students and employees with allergies, please limit your use of scented personal products when attending one of our classes.

If your class calls for a book or pattern, each student needs their own copy of that book or pattern. Under federal copyright law, books and patterns may not be shared.

If your class requires a sewing machine, please be sure that you are familiar with its operation, it is in good working order, has been serviced recently, and bring your manual along to class just in case!

We do not allow children under the age of 18 in our classes without the consent of the teacher and the shop owner. No pets allowed.

Only the person who is enrolled and paid for the class may be in the classroom during class time. Out of consideration for the teacher and the other students, please do not bring children, guests, or friends to class with you.

Cancellation policy: If the class minimum is not met within seven days prior to the class, it may be canceled and you will be notified and will receive a full refund. Please keep this possibility in mind when you purchase supplies for your class. No refunds of class fees will be given if student cancels within the one week prior to class.
