English Paper Piecing

     English Paper Piecing is a centuries old technique that virtually anybody can do! Grab your needle and thread, and get ready to stitch!  English paper piecing is done by hand stitching fabric onto paper pieces.  No sewing machine required.

     You will learn in depth about English paper piecing and all of it's possibilities.  We will work with a pattern to make a small baby quilt, 27" x 40.5".  The technique takes only a few minutes to learn and then we will spend the rest of class time perfecting the technique.

     This sweet little quilt looks great in solids and prints, brights and neutrals.  You may want to avoid very large prints as the paper hexagons we'll be covering are 2" across.

Only a few supplies are needed for class:

• BABY GARDEN pattern by Paper Pieces.com. The pattern includes the paper hexagons.
• 1" Hexagon Acrylic Template and rotary cutter - optional
• Fat quarters, charm packs, mini charm packs or scraps
• 1 yard of background fabric
• Hand sewing needles - Milliners or Embroidery in whatever length that is comfortable for you.
  
• Cotton or polyester thread 50 wt or 60 wt that blends with your fabric.
• Scissors
• Glue Stick or Pen
• a couple of Clover clips or small binder clips
• Thread conditioner or beeswax to keep thread from tangling.

Class Policies:

If your class starts at the same time that we open, we will let you into the shop ten minutes before class time.

In consideration of other students and employees with allergies, please limit your use of scented personal products when attending one of our classes.

If your class calls for a book or pattern, each student needs their own copy of that book or pattern. Under federal copyright law, books and patterns may not be shared.

If your class requires a sewing machine, please be sure that you are familiar with its operation, it is in good working order, has been serviced recently, and bring your manual along to class just in case!

We do not allow children under the age of 18 in our classes without the consent of the teacher and the shop owner. No pets.

Only the person who is enrolled and paid for the class may be in the classroom during class time. Out of consideration for the teacher and the other students, please do not bring children, guests, or friends to class with you.

Cancellation policy: If the class minimum is not met within seven days prior to the class, it may be cancelled and you will be notified and will receive a full refund. Please keep this possibility in mind when you purchase supplies for your class. No refunds of class fees will be given if student cancels within the one week prior to class.
