Advanced Beginner Quilting - Starshine

You've taken your first beginner's class and mastered most of the basics and now you're ready for the next step. In this class we'll make the Starshine quilt: you'll learn half square triangle units, flying geese units, and work on perfecting your 1/4” seam allowance. Make the quilt as large or as small as you'd like!

Supply List

- Starshine pattern by Modernly Morgan

- Fabric as listed on the pattern for your chosen size quilt

- Marking pencil that contrasts with all fabrics (I recommend a marking pencil vs a pen)

- Rotary cutter, mat at least 18 x 24", and 8.5 x 24” ruler (or 6 x 24” ruler + a second ruler at least 6” square)

- Sewing machine with a new Microtex 70/10 needle

- Neutral 50 wt 100% cotton piecing thread

- 1/4" foot for your machine - cannot be the kind with the bar/guide as you won’t be able to sew your triangles

- General sewing supplies: seam ripper, pins, scissors, etc.

Pre-class work:

- Pre-cut all of the fabrics before coming to class.

- From scraps or leftovers from the quilt, cut at least six 1.5 x 6” strips

Class Polices:

If your class starts at the same time that we open, we will let you into the shop ten minutes before class time.

In consideration of other students and employees with allergies, please limit your use of scented personal products when attending one of our classes. 

If your class calls for a book or pattern, each student needs their own copy of that book or pattern.  Under federal copyright law, books and patterns may not be shared.

If your class requires a sewing machine, please be sure that you are familiar with its operation, it is in good working order, has been serviced recently, and bring your manual along to class just in case.

We do not allow children under the age of 18 in our classes without the consent of the teacher and shop owner.
Pets are not allowed.
Only the person who is enrolled and paid for the class may be in the classroom during class time.  Out of the consideration for the teacher and the other students, please do not bring children, guests, or friends to class with you.

No refunds if you cancel the within 7 days of the class.
