I was going to talk about the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival today. However, world wide events changed my mind. So did an email from one of our customers.
I have received information about two organizations that are collecting money for humanitarian aid to Ukrainian families.
Care.com has set up an Ukraine Crisis Fund. The fund's goal is to reach 4 million with immediate aid and recovery, food, water, hygiene kits, psychosocial support, and cash assistance — prioritizing women and girls, families, and the elderly. You can go to Ukraine Crisis Fund to donate and learn more about Care and the Fund.
Pat Sloan, Aurifil, and Maria Nelga (president of the Ukrainian Quilters Association) have chosen UNICEF Quilters Stand for Ukraine. They are asking you to make a donation. Pat has designed a quilt block to be made in the colors of the Ukrainian flag - blue and yellow. You can learn more about all of this here:
Pat Sloan's Post
If you would like to make one or more of Pat's block and bring it to QA, we will put together a quilt and raffle it off to raise money for the Unicef fund.
We live in a place that keeps us safe from many of the world's conflicts. Let's help those we can (here and abroad) and be thankful for where we live. Next week we will talk about the Festival and classes staff took. Have a wonderful, thankful, and safe week.
Keep sewing everyone,
Phyllis and the QA staff
