Halloween is less than 80 days away, so we are getting in gear for the fall season. We have lots of new Halloween and Christmas holiday fabrics in the store. Take advantage of the cooler weather this week and come check it out.

You may remember we started featuring our QA Queens last year. This week, we’d like you to learn more about Betty Ring. She does a whole lot for our team behind the scenes, including working with us to coordinate all of our schedules and making sure there’s always someone around to help you out.
Betty first began working for Quilting Adventures on July 31st of 2014. She says she had her first “quilting adventure” 29 years ago when she took a class with the Henrico Department of Recreation. Betty describes herself as a scrap quilter and often works with 1” finished squares. She is also the "Princess of Precise Points!"
Betty’s favorite quilt she’s made is Caribbean Delight.

Here’s an example of some of her work with mini squares too.
Though she’s never entered a judged competition before, Betty’s leaf wall hanging received a Vendor’s Choice ribbon in the 2004 Quilt Show sponsored by the Richmond Quilter’s Guild, awarded by Joyce Hartley, the owner of Quilting Adventures at that time.
In addition to quilting, Betty enjoys reading and baking.
She just celebrated her 47th anniversary with her husband. They both grew up here in Richmond and have two children and two grandchildren. This family photo shows Betty and her family celebrating her 70th birthday and her son receiving his master’s degree from the University of Maryland. From left to right, there’s Betty, her older grandson, her son, younger grandson, daughter, and husband.

If you happen to see Betty while she’s in the shop, say hello!
Happy sewing everyone,
Phyllis and the QA staff
